Transitions

In the snow patrol chasing cars music video a scene which does not contain any performance and or relevance to the storyline. This is called a transition and doing something like this could really help us drag the music video on for longer and help the music video seem more professional rather than an average standard. Doing more transitions and edits incorporated into the music video will hopefully mean that the good effects used will help show the meaning of the music video more and make it seem more powerful. Other music videos have also used alot of transitions within the music video, the transition also works well with the music video as it fits in with pace and doesnt change the tempo or our audience expectation that anything exciting will occur. The transition works well as it gives the audience a aspectacle to watch rather than a blank screen where nothing is occuring that is worth paying attention to, the transition also matches the beat

The music video for the Fray- You Found Me, like many of their music videos and songs comes with a very powerful message and story line shown in the music video. This music video also used a couple of very well put together transitions which keep up interested as to what is going on the screen while it also drags out the music video so as that we are not left bored staring at a blank screen.

The First picture is a screenshot of a taxi driving with the lights and the big buildings behind it, this has no real relevance towards the music video but what it does provide to us as the audience is a spectacle that we think to ourselves "That Looks good!" like moths we are attracted to bright lights and this transition video is meant to wow us to show the amazing-ness of the lights and the buildings of where the music video is set. The second Image shows the next jump cut where the music video shows the buildings from high up where again we are attracted to this and think that it looks great.

The third image, is the first in a time lapse video where is shows the docks of a big city and how time passes so quickly, unlike many other transitional videos similar to this, this is actually in relevance to the music video in a way due to the message shown within the storyline and the lyrics. The music video is about a really sensitive and powerful issue, suicide and in the music video we see how a woman has killed herself or tried to kill herself by jumping off a tall building, the transition could be way of saying how quickly time can pass and that things such as life could be gone as quickly as the 12 hours could be gone within this music video the transitions used could come in useful with our music video as the storyline cannot be dragged on too long as there is a chance of it being over too quick and being left with time to spare but with a transitional video it takes up time and makes it look more well made and professional.

Risk assessment

Risk assessment
Risks
Risk - Bulb
Risk - Wires
Risk - Chairs
Risk - Guitars
Risk - Camera
Risk - Wet floor

Hazard
Hazard with bulb's, bulb's can smash on any surface and cause shards and pieces of glass to spread. This makes it dangerous for anyone that is close to it, sitting on the floor and is around glass. Bulb's can also burn anyone that touches it, either cuts from glass for burns from bulb's can hurt anyone.

Hazard with Wires is that anyone can trip over them which can cause damage to them while falling, one solution to this is to cover up wires, move them to the side, place them in out of reach places.

Hazard with Chairs, chairs can get in the way of performances and on the set, this means that people can trip over them or knock into them causing damage into themselves. One solution to this is to move them out of the way when not using them.

Hazard with guitars, guitars can smash and break causing damage to the user, pieces of the guitar can cause splinters to spread and fall off. One solution to this is to take care when using them and use common sense when using.

Hazard with Camera's, Camera's can break which means that glass and plastic can break off. This means that other people can trip and fall into the pieces cause cuts and bruises. One solution to this is to take care when using and use common sense.

Hazard with Wet floor, if there is a wet floor people can slip and cause cuts, bruises or breaks. One solution to this is to clean wet floors, stay away from them and to use common sense.

Precaution
Bulb - take care when handling, use common sense when using them.
Wire - Stay away from wires and move them away from busy areas.
Chair - Move chairs when not using, stay away from useless chairs.
Guitar - Don't use damage or broken guitar's, keep away from dangerous equipment
Camera - Only use safe equipment, if you don't know how to use then don't use it.
Wet floor - Clean wet floor, stay away from wet floor and use common sense.

Album Sleeve

This image is just one of the images we took whilst shooting the opening scene for our music video 'How To Save A LIfe'. As we see, the picture is set on a stage where some of the video is shot. The framing of the artist is in the centre, making him the focus point of the album sleeve The picture above will be used for the back of the album and will have the song which consists in the album besides Joel.  The picture shown is very simple which sums up what the band is about, we are not trying to create a band that looks fame hungry all the time and looking to do stupid things to get more famous we are trying to make a simple type band that people can relate to that people would call humble.

Merchandise

Merchandise
Here is an example of a 1.Three T-shirt, the shirt is red because it stands out from a crowd and is easily noticed. The text '1.Three' is near the centre of the shirt because it will get noticed. And lastly the microphone is the centrepiece of the shirt, it will get the person noticed when wearing it.

Here is black hoodie that represents our band, the logo and the text are white because it shows up on black, the reason why it is white is because we want it to get noticed from a distance and to represent the band. The reason why the colour black has been used for the hoodie is because it is relevant to our song and genre, dark, emotional and quiet.

We have created shorts for certain fans that have either a different sense of clothing or do sports often, the fans or band members can represent the band in what ever form they want. The colour white has been used to show the text and the image is because is shows up greatly on blue, and the colour blue has been used because it is a bright and noticable colour.

We have also created our own personalized shoes, the shoes also syleish and noticable have the band name on the front, this represents our fans and band overall.

Questionnaire Results

This the results to our questionnaire unfortunately there was a problem with the production of the questionnaire and the questions did not make sense, when you clicked on answer it took you back to the start. The questionnaire has now been fixed and the questionnaire is now full working and up to date.

The below results show that only one person has completed the questionnaire results show that 100% of people have seen the music video which shows from what we can gather from the results this connotes that the music video is very popular we can also understand that the music video is well received by the audience as 100% of people say that they would rate it as good and that they would rate it highly with 100% rating it as 4 stars out of a total of 5. Just as predicted when we had a private group meeting we all thought and predicted that many people would suggest that the music video is indie which shows that we should have and attempt to also replicate a style similar and in relation to the indie genre

Fashion

The reason we have chosen our certain fashion is in fitting with the post modernism theory  that nothing is original and everything has been done before. What are trying to do is replicate a band like the script such as their fashion and we are doing this as a homage style to The Script as we as a group respect the band and understand why they wear what they do. The Script tend to wear an item of leather such as a a leather jacket, the band tend to focus around what what the main band member Danny is wearing and whatever the band wear is related to the main member and the items of clothing all match up and link together.

The items of clothing we have chosen to wear will never be perfect and sometimes not ideal as we do not have a budget to work with we just have the clothes that we own, that we could share or borrow so for this, our fashion choices for the music video may contain clothes that are slightly too big, either way the clothes represent the band the script in a homage effect to them.

Other bands that we like the style of is One republic, they have a stylish representation towards them including smart shirts and jumpers but we are unable to replicate this as we all don't own this type of clothing and we don't have the funds available to us to be able to purchase and wear these clothes.

First day of shooting

During this week, we have been trying to find locations that were available to us during the time we are allowed to use for filming, when we found a place that was suitable we were able to shoot for one hour, we were able to film 30 seconds worth of footage which included one of our choruses, this was a success as we wernt sure whether what we were trying to produce would be able to be created, we played around with some of the lighting and camera shots to find out what worked and what would look good. Doing this meant we were able to see what things we could either improve during the planning and which things would not work

Prop list

What we will need

Video camera - The camera will be the main tool that will be used within our group, the camera will be used to record each piece of material for our group. The video material will be converted onto a Computer so that we can edit.

Gutair - The gutair will be used in the chorus of the song, the gutair will be one of many main points in the video. In the song it will provide the main section of the music and the rhythm of the music.

Chair - Chairs will be used in specific scenes, when a chair is being used it will be without the band. It will be used in the story section of the video.

Lights - Another major item for the props used will be lights, the lights will be used in the majority of scenes, the lights will focus on the band when they are singing the song. The light will make the audience focus on the people, the people  with the light on them are the main focus point for the video.

Clothing - In the music video that our group is going to wear selected clothing, the clothing will be relevant to the style of song and genre. It has to suit in with our choice and the others that are in the group.

Inspiration (Kodaline)

We have all added our own ideas into the concept of the music video, the music video will seem very indie like as that is the genre specific music video we are looking to replicate a music video similar to Kodaline in the way they create their music video. In their music video "High Hopes" they create a music video evolving around love and jealousy along with using suicide as a very sensitive and delicate issue to fit in with the delicate tone of the music and the lyrics.

The colours used and the clean images shown show the image as very high quality and makes the music video itself seem more attractive to the audience. What we will try to replicate is how the music video slows down its pace and speeds up in parallel to the music and the song itself to create a well mixed harmony.

The lighting used is very high during light hearted soft part of the songs and then dark during emotional times that we feel shocked by the actions seen. The actions shown by the woman such as touching the walls and drawing on the windows is a good use of filling out the times of when there is no lyrics playing and it also helps us to understand the character better. Its very symbolic as it seems the woman is now free, and able to "touch" the outside world as in her former relationship she was trapped in her relationship like a prison.

The editing shown also brings the audience closer to the characters and help us see them as real people, the way the male main character tips his cigarette into the ashtray and smiles as if having a normal conversation rather than putting lots of emotion into it helps us feel as if he is "real" and a believable character. The jump cuts and shot reverse shots show eye-line matches between the two characters and shows them both smiling to also help us see the bond between the two of them.
